Implementation of a Pilot Project on Psychosocial Support Counseling in the Kirovohrad Region
Over the past month, the Kirovohrad regional organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross delivered nearly 30 consultations as part of a pilot project on psychosocial support counseling. Volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross, who had completed the relevant training, provided support to residents in Kropyvnytskyi, Oleksandrivka, and Marto-Ivanivka.
If individuals have experienced difficult events or are facing challenges they cannot handle alone, they can contact our specialists and receive up to five free, fully confidential consultations. During these sessions, individuals will learn coping strategies for emotional stress (such as anxiety, fear, anger, or sadness) and acquire problem-solving skills for issues like relationship conflicts, job search anxiety, or adaptation to new environments. Through one or more consultations, individuals can assess the severity of their concerns and explore solutions. Individuals may be referred to a professional psychologist or psychotherapist if it is determined that four to five consultations are insufficient.
The project is being piloted with the support of the Danish Red Cross. It provides individual counseling and information sessions for people affected by the war in Ukraine. These activities aim to assist people in overcoming stress, coping with the consequences of crisis events, and accessing quality support.
