Ukrainian Red Cross Society supported by the Coca-Cola Foundation is helping health facilities to fight Covid-19

COVID-19 has caused huge concern around the globe. Ukraine is not an exception. The lack of resources in health care providing institutions and lack of personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical workers is a pressing issue in many regions of Ukraine. This is the reason why NGOs, volunteers and humanitarian organizations are helping doctors and medical personnel in the fight against coronavirus.

Volunteers and staff of URCS with the support of the partners throughout the country are doing all they can to help the vulnerable population, doctors and other medical workers, as the number of the infected increases.

During these challenging times for Ukrainian health system URCS is supported by the Coca-Cola Foundation grant, the philanthropic arm of The Coca-Cola Company, for immediate relief to address COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

We are concerned about the coronavirus outbreak across the globe,” says Helen Smith Price, President of the Coca-Cola Foundation. “Through the Coca-Cola Foundation, we are supporting the Ukrainian Red Cross and its efforts to provide medical equipment supplies to Ukraine. As a longtime partner of the Red Cross, we are proud to support critical relief efforts in impacted communities.”

To fight the COVID-19 six key hospitals throughout Ukraine will be equipped with vitally important equipment:3 medical ventilators, 12 patient monitors, 5 analyzers of electrolytes and blood gases, 1 blood/pH/ electrolyte/metabolite analyzer and 1 biochemical automatic analyzer for metabolic profile IVD.

“It is crucial to support our hospitals which are on the front line fighting COVID-19 with additional vitally important equipment” – says Maksim Dotsenko, Deputy Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. – The main aim is to safe people’s lives and we appreciate for doing it together with our strategic partner.

Coca-Cola HBC, our long-term partner in Ukraine stepped up in the effort to cope with the crisis, it continues to make and deliver the essential products to pledge their support to vulnerable communities during this challenging time. Together we have already provided over 40,000 bottles of water and beverages to hospitals with COVID-19 profile and to vulnerable people and now we are planning further deliveries.

Business environment and non-governmental organizations are working together towards pandemic and providing essential help to keep people safe and healthy.
