The Ukrainian Red Cross continues training social care workers in Odesa

The Ukrainian Red Cross Physical Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation team in the Odesa region continues its productive cooperation with the Territorial Centre for Social Services of Odesa’s Prymorskyi District.

Throughout June, a trainer from the Physical Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation team delivered training sessions for social care workers from the Centre on “Positioning and Transfers” and “Assistive Devices”.

During the training, participants learned how to:

  • assess a person’s condition and determine the extent to which they can participate independently in transfers;
  • apply the principles of safe and effective body positioning in practice;
  • select the most appropriate transfer techniques;
  • understand the main types of assistive devices and use them to improve mobility;
  • ensure the safety and comfort of beneficiaries when using assistive devices.

High-quality training for social care workers, combined with respectful and effective communication with beneficiaries, is our shared contribution to building a more inclusive society.

The Physical Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation programme of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Odesa region is implemented with the support of the German Red Cross.
