More than 1,500 people received rehabilitation support from the Ukrainian Red Cross during the first half of 2026
The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to expand its Physical Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation programme. Its primary goal is to help people restore their functional abilities and improve access to rehabilitation services, particularly in remote communities.
During the first half of 2026, the Ukrainian Red Cross mobile rehabilitation units:
- provided rehabilitation services to 1,597 beneficiaries;
- delivered 4,971 rehabilitation sessions;
- supplied 2,079 assistive devices to healthcare facilities and people in need;
- conducted 661 community-based rehabilitation training sessions and 1,425 awareness-raising sessions on evidence-based rehabilitation.
The mobile rehabilitation units support both veterans and civilians in restoring their functional abilities and returning to active participation in community life.
Specialists provide rehabilitation services directly within communities, visiting people in their homes to ensure support is as accessible as possible. Where needed, beneficiaries are also provided with assistive devices.
Each device is selected individually, based on the person’s condition and professional recommendations, with careful consideration given to comfort, safety, and effective recovery.
The Ukrainian Red Cross currently delivers the programme in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Rivne, Volyn, Dnipro, Poltava, Chernihiv, Ternopil, and Khmelnytskyi regions.
The programme is supported by the Japanese Red Cross, Danish Red Cross, German Red Cross, British Red Cross, Norwegian Red Cross, the Government of Japan, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
The development of physical rehabilitation remains one of the Ukrainian Red Cross’s key priorities, ensuring rehabilitation support is available wherever it is needed most.
We stand by those in need.
