In June, the Tracing Service Conducted Seven “How Not to Get Lost” Information Sessions

The Ukrainian Red Cross Tracing Service deals daily with the consequences of family separation. At the same time, one of its key areas of work is not only restoring contact between family members but also preventing family separation by raising awareness of simple yet essential safety rules.

To this end, in June 2026, the Tracing Service team conducted seven information sessions entitled “How Not to Get Lost” for children and parents. In total, the activities reached 152 children across Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Kharkiv and Zhytomyr regions.

During the sessions, participants learned what to do if they lose contact with family members, how to respond if a child goes missing, and why it is important to discuss and agree on a plan of action with loved ones in advance for emergency situations.

In today’s context, this knowledge is relevant for both children and adults. Displacement, evacuation and other crisis situations can result in the loss of contact between family members. Being informed and prepared in advance can help preserve what matters most — staying connected with loved ones.
