The Ukrainian Red Cross ranks among the top five humanitarian organisations by the amount of cash assistance provided to people affected by attacks

Between January and June 2026, the Ukrainian Red Cross ranked among the top five humanitarian organisations in terms of the amount of cash assistance provided to people affected by shelling in Ukraine’s frontline areas, according to data from the humanitarian clusters.

Over the six-month period, more than 7,800 people received this support from the Ukrainian Red Cross.

This is emergency cash assistance for people whose homes have been damaged by shelling. It is provided under the Unified Cash Transfers programme as part of the response to the impact of shelling, within 45 days of an attack.

Cash assistance gives people the flexibility to decide what they need most in the immediate aftermath — whether to purchase essential items or medicines, pay for temporary accommodation, or cover other urgent expenses.

The programme is implemented with support from the U.S., the Norwegian Red Cross, the Danish Red Cross, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
