Since the start of the year, three newly established Ukrainian Red Cross mobile health units have begun operating in the Kherson region
Last month, the mobile health units (MHUs) provided 641 primary healthcare consultations to local residents. They currently visit the communities of Vysokopillia, Kalynivske, Tiahynka, Beryslav, and Novoraisk.
Each MHU consists of a family doctor, a nurse, and a driver. They provide support to all residents, including internally displaced persons, large families, older people, children and adults, and people with disabilities. Services include:
- Medical consultations
- Primary examinations and basic health check-ups
- Basic tests, such as measuring blood pressure, blood sugar, and oxygen levels
With frontlines in the Kherson region constantly shifting and frequent shelling in the area, the work of the MHUs is extremely important. Access to hospitals and pharmacies is limited or sometimes impossible. The units’ schedules are coordinated by the local Primary Healthcare Centres together with the Ukrainian Red Cross, and adjusted in line with safety protocols to protect both the teams and local residents.
