In Zaporizhzhia, volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team underwent training in psychological first aid

During the training, the volunteers had the opportunity to learn skills for providing emotional support to victims, witnesses of traumatic events, and individuals in a state of severe stress or shock. It is important to note that emergency response volunteers are often among the first to arrive at the scene and collaborate with rescue services.

Psychological first aid is just as crucial as physical assistance for victims. Timely and effective support significantly impacts a person’s future condition, work capability, mental health, and ability to return to a normal lifestyle.

In addition to helping others, each training participant learned how to care for themselves in stressful situations and become more resilient to the negative effects of traumatic experiences.
