The Crucial Role of Search-and-Rescue Dogs in Quickly Locating Victims of Emergencies in the Kharkiv Region
The Shield Group, part of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams in the Kharkiv region, conducts searches for people in natural environments and in the rubble of collapsed buildings. They work with specially trained dogs, which can locate victims much faster than humans.
Each mission brings hope that the dogs will find survivors and help save lives. Although it is not always possible to locate victims alive, the Shield Group has rescued dozens of people, including children and the elderly, since its inception in 2014.
We are committed to developing and strengthening this vital area of work.
