9,500 hygiene kits and 1,700 psychosocial support kits for most at risks people
Since April 2020, the Danish Red Cross is supporting the Ukrainian Red Cross Society for the COVID-19 outbreak prevention and response project in Ukraine (Funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark). The project is targeting 7 regions – Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Ternopil, Kherson. Distribution of 9,500 hygiene kits has started for 23,000 most at risks people to enhance barriers measures such as hand washing practices. 1,700 psychosocial support kits for children and elderly are also on the way to be distributed to benefit to more than 4000 vulnerable persons in confinement.
Other activities supported by the project:
- Psychosocial support activities in various formats for 20,000 vulnerable persons affected by the outbreak and the restrictive measures such as the lock-down since almost 2 months (online activities, webinars, videos)
- Communication campaign on the risks, safe measures, good practices for healthy behaviors and maintain well-being, engagement of dialogue with affected communities targeting 30,000 persons
- Psychological support to the URCS staff and volunteers mobilized in the emergency response
- Mobilization of the URCS Emergency Response Teams to support Local Authorities in distribution and emergency operations
