Leaders of the Ukrainian Red Cross presented the organisation’s activities during the war in Ukraine to high-ranking officials in Canada
At a working meeting in the Government of Canada’s Valour Building, attended by Canadian officials and representatives of the Canadian Red Cross, the Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross, Maksym Dotsenko, discussed the organisation’s work, the specifics of its mandate, and coordination within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Deputy Director General Olena Stokoz highlighted the organisation’s activities during the largest humanitarian crisis in Europe since World War II.
Senator Stan Kutcher, of Ukrainian descent, along with Senators Donna Dasco and Ratna Omidvar, emphasised the resilience of the Ukrainian people despite ongoing attacks and the deteriorating situation in Ukraine’s energy system.
Additionally, the Ukrainian Red Cross delegation met with Canada’s Minister of International Development, Ahmed Hussen, at Global Affairs Canada. They discussed the population’s needs, the Ukrainian Red Cross’s efforts to restore damaged infrastructure, and ongoing emergency responses. The Minister expressed his condolences and support for all those affected by the Russian attacks.
