Pechenihy Dam: More than 16,000 people reached safety through this evacuation route
Four years ago, the Pechenihy Dam became one of the key evacuation routes for thousands of people forced to flee the occupied territories of the Kharkiv region because of the war.
More than 16,000 people were able to reach safer areas via this route. For many families, it was an opportunity to escape danger and begin a new chapter in their lives.
Dozens of teams and organisations were involved in supporting the evacuation efforts, including volunteers from the emergency response team of the Kharkiv regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, the Eventroom Charitable Foundation, the Way of Ukraine Charitable Foundation, and others. They helped people navigate the difficult route, provided humanitarian assistance, supported evacuation operations, and remained by their side during some of the most difficult moments.
Today, we remember not only one of the largest evacuation operations in the Kharkiv region, but also the people who made it possible. Their dedication, compassion, and willingness to help provided vital support to thousands of people affected by the war.
We express our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to this effort and helped save lives.
