Kharkiv: Ukrainian Red Cross team responded at the site of the morning air strike
The Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team worked alongside other emergency services at the site of the morning strike on Kharkiv. Volunteers took part in search and rescue operations, helping to clear debris and rescue people trapped under the rubble, and transferring them to emergency medical teams. They also conducted door-to-door checks in damaged residential buildings and surrounding areas, assisted with the evacuation of residents, and provided first aid and psychological first aid.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts and close cooperation of all responding services, eight people were rescued from under the rubble.
A Ukrainian Red Cross assistance point is currently operating at the site of the attack, where people can access drinking water, tea and coffee, light refreshments, and psychological support. Humanitarian assistance is also being distributed to those affected, including OSB boards, tarpaulins, blankets, hygiene kits, children’s bedding sets, and drinking water.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, one person was killed and nine injured, including two children, as a result of the Russian air strike on Kharkiv’s Kholodnohirskyi district. A two-storey residential building was damaged by the impact.
