Large-scale overnight attack on Kyiv: Ukrainian Red Cross team assists affected residents on the ground

The emergency response team of the Ukrainian Red Cross National Committee, working alongside other emergency services, responded at multiple sites across Kyiv following another large-scale Russian attack on the city.
Volunteers operated at several locations, conducting door-to-door assessments of damaged residential buildings and surrounding areas to identify people affected by the attack. They provided first aid to injured individuals and delivered psychological first aid to people experiencing acute stress reactions. The team also assisted residents in evacuating to safer locations.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Kyiv was the main target of the overnight Russian attack. As a result of the strike, four people were killed in Kyiv’s Obolonskyi, Holosiivskyi and Solomianskyi districts. Dozens more were injured. At least 26 residential buildings sustained damage. The attack also triggered 26 fires, covering a total area of nearly 6,000 square metres.

Educational and cultural facilities across the capital were also damaged, including an academy, a kindergarten, one of the workshops of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio, the grounds of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, including the Dormition Cathedral, and the Mystetskyi Arsenal National Cultural, Arts and Museum Complex. Emergency response and recovery operations are ongoing at six locations across several districts of the capital.
