June 10 — World Crafts Day

Craftsmanship is one of the oldest forms of human creativity. It is a way of creating something valuable with one’s own hands, passing on knowledge, and preserving traditions. Today, for many Ukrainians, it has also become a path to recovery after forced relocation, job loss, and other consequences of the war.

Within the Ukrainian Red Cross’s Reboot programme, dozens of participants have received support to develop their own businesses based on craftsmanship and handmade production.

Some create designer jewellery, combining modern design with handcrafted techniques. Others work with clay, producing unique ceramic items. Still others make home décor, textiles, or natural products, investing their personal experience and skills into each item.

One such example is Olena, who turned her passion for sewing into a business after being forced to relocate from Izium to Cherkasy.

Another participant, Alisa, has revived a family beekeeping tradition together with her family after relocating from Luhansk to the Vinnytsia region.

Another programme participant, Viktoriia Nahorna, fulfilled a long-standing dream by launching the production of natural wholegrain flour using a traditional stone mill.

Each of these businesses has its own story. Thanks to this, craftsmanship is not just part of the past. Behind handmade products are people who, despite challenges, continue to create, grow, and share their skills with others. іншими.
