Three years ago, on 6 June 2023, the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam left thousands of people without homes, access to clean drinking water, and disrupted their daily lives

From the first hours after the disaster, Ukrainian Red Cross teams were deployed to affected communities across the Kherson, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, and other regions. Volunteers and staff evacuated people from flooded areas, provided first aid and psychosocial support, and delivered water, food, and humanitarian relief items to those who had lost access to basic necessities.

The response was particularly challenging in the Kherson region, where relief operations took place under constant threat of shelling. Despite the danger, our volunteers continued to provide daily support to people in need.

The consequences of this tragedy are still being felt today. The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to work to ensure access to clean water, support affected communities, and help restore basic living conditions.

We thank every volunteer, staff member, and partner who stood with people in those critical days and continue to provide support today.

We stand by those in need.
