Lviv Hosted the First Youth Forum of the Ukrainian Red Cross

On 25 October, the Lviv regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross held its first-ever Youth Forum, aimed at introducing active young people and the wider community to youth initiatives developed by the Ukrainian Red Cross.

The event brought together around 100 participants — representatives of civil society organisations, youth development experts, volunteers, and students from across the Lviv region — all united by their desire to be agents of change in their communities.

The Forum’s goal was to create a platform for sharing experiences, ideas, and building partnerships between young people, community initiatives, and local authorities. Particular attention was given to presenting the Ukrainian Red Cross’s Humanistic Education youth programme, which promotes a culture of peace, respect, and empathy among young people. In the Lviv region, this initiative has been successfully implemented for more than three years, bringing together around 30 volunteers and partners from universities and local communities.

As part of the Forum, a panel discussion was held on “How to unite young people, authorities, and community initiatives to strengthen the volunteer movement?”. Panellists included Vitalii Papp, Leading Specialist for Youth and Volunteer Development at the Ukrainian Red Cross; Tetiana Kozhokar, Director of the European Youth Capital Office of the Lviv City Council; Oksana Stashkiv, Head of Plast in Lviv; Taras Nazarkiv, Representative of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration; and Pavlo Medyna, Head of Programme Development at TVORY!

The Forum programme also featured presentations of youth initiatives and interactive workshops, offering participants an opportunity to share experiences, establish new connections, and discuss ways to further develop volunteering across the Lviv region.

The event was held with the support of the Danish Red Cross.
