The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to provide assistance in Kherson
The Ukrainian Red Cross has established an aid station at the city’s evacuation point, where evacuees are brought to safety. Volunteers from the Kherson regional branch are providing people with snacks, drinks, and bottled water. Mobile phones and other devices can also be charged on-site. At the same time, four psychologists specialising in psychosocial support are working both at the evacuation point and in shelters. They have already provided psychological first aid to 543 evacuees, including 65 individuals who required one-on-one consultations with a psychologist. Evacuees are also receiving information sessions on mine safety to help prevent accidents involving explosive remnants and to educate them on how to act during shelling.
So far, evacuees have been provided with:
- Over 500 individual hygiene kits
- Over 400 emergency kits
- Over 2,500 litres of bottled drinking water
Meanwhile, volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross Emergency Response Teams continue to evacuate people with limited mobility to a reception centre for displaced persons located in one of the city’s educational institutions. Older adults with chronic illnesses evacuated from the Ostriv area (Korabel district) are being hospitalised for further examination and treatment.
It is worth noting that the bridge to the Korabel district was damaged during the recent attack on Kherson, prompting the Kherson Regional Military Administration to announce the evacuation of the local population.
