The Ukrainian Red Cross provides assistance to those affected by the night attacks in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions

  • Kharkiv

The Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Kharkiv region worked at the emergency sites. Together with other specialised services, they inspected surrounding areas and carried out door-to-door checks to identify those affected. They helped residents of damaged homes reach shelters and provided first aid and psychological first aid.

Currently, a Ukrainian Red Cross aid station is operating at the site of the aftermath, where volunteers continue to offer first aid, psychological support, as well as water, tea, and coffee to those affected and to responders. Based on assessed needs, humanitarian aid is being distributed, including emergency kits, hygiene kits, tarpaulins, plastic sheeting, and OSB boards.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, six people were injured during the combined Russian air strike, including four emergency service workers. An industrial facility and residential buildings were damaged.

  • Zmiiv

Volunteers from the Zmiiv unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Kharkiv region operated at the sites of shelling. They conducted checks of nearby areas and went door-to-door to identify those affected, providing first aid and psychological support.

The State Emergency Service reported that the attack caused fires at a civilian enterprise and in the private sector. Three people were injured.

  • Shostka

Volunteers from the Shostka unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Sumy region joined the response and recovery efforts.

On site, OSB boards, waterproof tarpaulins, and flashlights were distributed. Volunteers also helped people whose homes were damaged to clear debris and repair damage. Psychological support was also provided on the ground.

According to the district military administration, six people were injured during the night Russian attack on the Shostka community. Preliminary reports indicate damage to 43 buildings, 771 windows, and four vehicles. Six private households were destroyed.
