Initial Batch of Psychological First Aid Kits Delivered to Children’s Hospitals

The Ukrainian Red Cross has delivered an initial batch of psychological first aid kits to children’s hospitals across seven regions of Ukraine. This initiative is part of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Programme, implemented with the assistance of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and supported by the European Commission.

Each kit contains 47 items, including games, anti-stress and creative materials, hygiene products, stationery, and lighting — everything needed to help create a safe and comforting space for children in hospital shelters, including during air raids.

So far, 19 hospitals in the Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Ternopil, and Kherson regions have received the kits. In total, 122 medical facilities across 20 regions of Ukraine will receive support under the project.

The initiative aims to reduce stress, anxiety, and fear among children undergoing treatment. In the context of war — where time spent in shelters, loud alarms, and separation from loved ones have become part of daily life — psychological support for children is critically important.

The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to support children in difficult circumstances, ensuring that even in the most stressful moments, every child feels cared for, protected, and embraced by humanity.
