The number of Ukrainian Red Cross Active Longevity Clubs is growing — 53 centres are now operating across the country
This week, the Sumy region joined the network, with new Active Longevity Clubs opening in several towns and villages across the region. Specifically, the initiative has been implemented in the Romny, Konotop, Shostka, and Buryn communities.
These spaces are designed to support older people, providing opportunities for communication, active recreation, creative expression, and interaction with other generations. The clubs operate at local Ukrainian Red Cross branches and community centres.
Volunteers organise physical activity classes, creative workshops, meetings with young people, and other activities that promote socialisation and improve the quality of life.
The first meetings have already taken place at the Panianka Club in Romny and the Zhytteliuby Club in Buryn. Participants gathered to socialise, share life experiences, feel the support of like-minded individuals, and enjoy spending time in a warm atmosphere.
The Active Longevity Clubs are part of the Home-Based Care programme, which aims to help older adults stay active, avoid loneliness, and feel valued by society.
