Ultrasound diagnostics are now available on-site in the Mykolaiv region

From February 2025, residents of the Mykolaiv region can access ultrasound diagnostic services on-site. Since the launch, over 250 individuals have already received essential medical examinations.

The mobile unit was introduced to improve access to healthcare services in rural areas, where transport links are poor and the number of patients with limited mobility is growing. This initiative was made possible through the REDpreneurUA programme, which supports social entrepreneurship within the Ukrainian Red Cross.

As part of this programme, a modern Philips Lumify mobile ultrasound diagnostic system, complete with software for smart devices, was purchased. This enables examinations to be carried out not only in inpatient medical facilities but also directly in the community, including outpatient clinics, first-aid posts, health posts, and even the mobile clinic of the Ukrainian Red Cross Hospital.

The new equipment supports a wide range of ultrasound examinations, including those of the abdominal cavity, kidneys, bladder, thyroid, gallbladder and ducts, and mammary glands. This allows people to diagnose diseases early and prevent complications.

The REDpreneurUA programme is implemented by the Ukrainian Red Cross in partnership with the Austrian Red Cross and with support from the Neighbour in Need Foundation (Austria). The initiative aims to promote social entrepreneurship, making healthcare services more accessible and improving the quality of life for local communities.
