In the Rivne region, participants took part in a drill to set up an evacuation point for a radiation emergency

The emergency response team of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Rivne region participated in the second stage of joint exercises on deploying an intermediate evacuation point in Hoshcha for a radiation emergency at the Khmelnytskyi NPP.

During the drill, the following skills were practised:

• notification of the start of evacuation;
• actions to be taken by the population in this situation;
• evacuation routes to safe areas;
• evacuation of people with limited mobility;
• implementation of measures to shelter the population in civil defence structures;
• provision of personal protective equipment, iodine prophylaxis, and first aid to victims.

Additionally, modern technological complexes for mass decontamination and vehicle sanitation were demonstrated.

Such training helps participants acquire new skills and fosters cooperation between emergency services.
