The Ukrainian Red Cross supports hundreds of families of missing persons due to the war in Ukraine

Volunteers engaged in restoring family links maintain direct contact with relatives of missing persons who have reached out to the Ukrainian Red Cross Tracing Service. They organise informational meetings with families, provide consultations on various issues, deliver humanitarian aid, and arrange psychosocial support and recreational activities. These efforts aim to help families navigate their daily lives, appreciate the beauty of nature, learn about history, and connect with others.

For example, in the last six months alone, there have been 11,902 contacts with families of missing persons and prisoners of war to assess their needs, support their psychological well-being, discuss the fate of the missing individuals, make referrals, and so on. During this period, volunteers organised 48 information sessions and social events for families, and humanitarian aid was provided to 943 families of missing persons and prisoners of war through programmes for vulnerable populations.

Volunteers from the Tracing Service organise support events to help individuals reintegrate into society, recognise their own value, and restore a sense of security. Engaging with participants helps address essential issues and alleviate their psychological distress.
