In the Mykolaiv Region, Ukrainian Red Cross Active Longevity Clubs Provide Comprehensive Support to Elderly People
The purpose of active longevity clubs is to create a safe space in the community for elderly people to maintain their health and learn new skills.
Social isolation, lack of reliable information, and limited access to social and medical services can make life in the community much more difficult for elderly people. Activities organised by the Ukrainian Red Cross Active Longevity Clubs enable elderly residents to engage in open communication, receive relevant information, pursue self-actualisation, and improve their integration within the community.
Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers conduct psychosocial support activities, information sessions, and specialised workshops for club members. They also teach health care skills and organise joint leisure activities to provide emotional support to elderly people. The operation of the Ukrainian Red Cross Active Longevity Clubs in the Mykolaiv region is supported by the Danish Red Cross.
