Last night, Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukrainian cities

This is the largest combined attack on the Ukrainian energy system since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Hundreds of thousands of homes are temporarily without power. The Ukrainian Red Cross has responded promptly to the attacks and is providing all necessary assistance in the cities under fire.

  • Khmelnytskyi.

The attack damaged infrastructure and residential buildings. 2 people were killed and 8 injured. One woman was rescued from the rubble. Specialists from mobile medical teams, psychosocial support, and volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams are working together with other rescue services to overcome the consequences of the emergency. Volunteers have set up an aid station where people can drink tea, charge their gadgets and keep warm.

  • Zaporizhzhia.

Three people were killed in the shelling and 15 others were injured. There were hits to critical infrastructure and the private sector. Two houses were completely destroyed and 15 more private and one multi-storey residential buildings were damaged. Volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams in Zaporizhzhia Oblast provided first aid and psychological first aid at the scene.

  • Kharkiv region.

Due to missiles hitting the infrastructure of the region, electricity and gas were cut off in many areas of both the city and the region. The Kharkiv regional organisation, in coordination with the authorities, prepared hot meals for more than 2,000 people – residents of compact settlements, people with limited mobility who have difficulty taking care of themselves, and other vulnerable groups.
