Diplomatic visit of the Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross to London
A delegation of the Ukrainian Red Cross, headed by Director General Maksym Dotsenko, recently paid a diplomatic visit to its key strategic partner, the British Red Cross. As a result, a number of important meetings were held in the context of early support for the humanitarian needs of Ukrainians and assistance in the country’s recovery.
At the same time, as part of the delegation’s working programme, an exhibition of the Ukrainian Red Cross activities was opened in the official hall of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in London. The exhibition will run until the end of February, so visitors will be able to learn about the challenges faced by the Ukrainian Red Cross staff and volunteers on a daily basis.
In order to draw the international community’s attention to the needs in Ukraine, international humanitarian law and human rights during the war, the Ukrainian Red Cross team held meetings with high-ranking government officials and the academic community of the British University of Oxford, in particular with Dr Hugo Slim and Theodore Meron. In addition, strategic planning meetings were held between the Ukrainian and British Red Crosses, as well as their commercial partners.
