International partnership helping Ukrainians rebuild their lives: Spanish Red Cross delegation reviews the Reboot programme’s results

“The programme opens up new opportunities for people, helping them not only restore their livelihoods or regain a source of income, but also start their lives anew after being forced to leave their homes, losing their businesses and income because of the war. This is why people should not have to adapt to the programme; rather, the programme should be able to respond to the individual needs of each participant. This is what makes it successful and ensures it has a meaningful impact,” said Cristina Gómez, Head of International Cooperation in Europe at the Spanish Red Cross, during her visit to the Service Centre of the Ukrainian Red Cross Reboot programme in Kyiv.

Together with Julia Partor, Director of International Cooperation at the Spanish Red Cross, she reviewed the results achieved over three years of the programme and met with its participants.
The guests met entrepreneurs who received microgrants last year to develop businesses in 3D printing, modular frame house manufacturing and furniture production. They also visited a sewing business run by participants who received grant support in 2025.

The visit to the Service Centre allowed representatives of the Spanish Red Cross to see how comprehensive support — from vocational training and career counselling to assistance with establishing and growing businesses — helps restore the economic independence of people affected by the war.

Julia Partor and Cristina Gómez visited Ukraine as international guests of the General Assembly of the Ukrainian Red Cross. Their participation in the event provided an opportunity to learn more about the organisation’s key areas of work, the results of its humanitarian response during the war, and joint initiatives implemented with the support of international partners.
During the visit, representatives of the Spanish Red Cross also held a working meeting with specialists from the Ukrainian Red Cross Department for Emergency Preparedness, Recovery and Development. The parties discussed the Reboot programme’s outcomes and priorities for its further development.
