UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer meets with the Ukrainian Red Cross team
Today, a delegation from the Ukrainian Red Cross, led by President Maksym Dotsenko, met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
During the meeting, they discussed the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, the current needs of people affected by the war, and the challenges the Ukrainian Red Cross faces in responding to the consequences of the full-scale war.
Particular attention was given to the impact of ongoing attacks on Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv. The delegation visited one of the sites affected by a recent missile strike on the capital, where representatives of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Red Cross outlined the emergency response efforts and the support provided to those affected.
The UK Prime Minister met with emergency responders from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and members of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team who had been working at the site of the attack. Volunteers and staff shared their experience of responding to the aftermath of attacks, supporting affected people, and assisting the emergency services during response operations.
The Ukrainian Red Cross highly values the support of the United Kingdom, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and the British Red Cross. This support enables the organisation to continue providing humanitarian assistance to those who need it most.
We are grateful to the United Kingdom, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and the British Red Cross for their solidarity with and support for Ukraine. Through this cooperation, we are strengthening our capacity to respond rapidly to people’s needs and remain alongside those who need support most.
