A third medical hub for IDPs from Mariupol has opened in Dnipro, with support from the Ukrainian Red Cross

On December 4th, the third specialised medical hub for internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Mariupol was officially inaugurated in Dnipro. The event was attended by representatives of both the Ukrainian Red Cross and the Luxembourg Red Cross and included, among others, Olha Kondratenko, Project Coordinator of the Luxembourg Red Cross; Yevhen Poliarush, Head of the Ukrainian Red Cross Interregional Office; and Liudmyla Lashko, Head of the Dnipro Regional Branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

Due to the impact of the war, many IDPs are experiencing health problems and require comprehensive medical care. For this reason, the Ukrainian Red Cross has supported the initiative to establish a network of specialised medical hubs for Mariupol residents. The hubs are based on relocated medical facilities. The first two hubs are already open and treating patients in Kyiv and Rivne.

The new hub in Dnipro was set up at the social housing complex for Mariupol residents, where more than 220 families currently reside. The Ukrainian Red Cross provided medical equipment and oversaw the renovation of the premises. The hub will be staffed by doctors from Mariupol and will offer services to both IDPs and local residents of Dnipro.

The medical centre brings together 20 specialists, including primary care physicians and specialists in various fields. It provides primary and specialised care, as well as laboratory and diagnostic testing. Home consultations are available for patients with limited mobility. Additionally, the hub features a daycare facility for patients requiring supervised treatment.
