Twenty-two families of veterans participated in adaptation workshops organised by the Ukrainian Red Cross
As part of the pilot programme for the social adaptation service for veterans and their families, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, on-site workshops were held in Kamianets-Podilskyi and Khmilnyk with the support of the Ukrainian Red Cross. The goal is to create conditions for the reintegration of veterans’ families into civilian life and to assist them in navigating the challenges posed by war.
This assistance includes:
- Working with specialists.
- Group meetings with psychologists to help family members understand reactions to combat stress or injuries, including the impact of these events on family relationships.
- Psychosocial support activities aimed at strengthening family relationships.
- Physical activities and joint recreation.
The workshop in Khmilnyk was supported by the Vinnytsia Regional Centre of Social Services and the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration, while the workshop in Kamianets-Podilskyi received support from the Centre of Social Services, the Department of Veterans Affairs of the Khmelnytskyi region, and the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration.
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian Red Cross is piloting this project in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy to develop the State Standard for Social Adaptation Services for Veterans and Their Families across Ukraine.
Overall, participants in the events had the opportunity to improve their physical and emotional well-being and to consult with psychologists, social work specialists, and volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Unit. Similar events will be held in the future.
