The Ukrainian Red Cross provides assistance to people affected by a large-scale attack in Kharkiv
Last night, volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Kharkiv region responded to the aftermath of the strikes in Kharkiv’s Nemyshlianskyi district. Working alongside other emergency services, the volunteers searched surrounding areas and damaged buildings, carried out door-to-door visits to identify people in need of assistance, and provided first aid and psychological first aid to those affected.
Today, the Ukrainian Red Cross set up an assistance point at the site, where people could receive psychological support, have some water, tea or coffee, and snacks.
Those affected also received humanitarian assistance, including OSB boards, tarpaulins and plastic sheeting to provide temporary protection for damaged homes, as well as hygiene kits, food parcels, drinking water, sleeping kits and other essential items.
Construction materials were also provided to a healthcare facility to temporarily cover damaged sections of the buildings.
According to preliminary information from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, 62 people were injured in the large-scale Russian attack on the Kharkiv region. Russian forces struck Kharkiv’s Nemyshlianskyi district and Chuhuivskyi district in the region using guided aerial bombs and missiles. A healthcare facility, multi-storey residential buildings and vehicles were damaged. More than 200 patients from the damaged healthcare facility were evacuated to other hospitals.
