The Ukrainian Red Cross provides comprehensive humanitarian assistance to residents of Oleshky who have fled to Ukraine

The Ukrainian Red Cross, in partnership with the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, is providing humanitarian assistance in government-controlled areas of Ukraine to residents of Oleshky, Kherson region, who have left the temporarily occupied territory.

Around 50 Ukrainian Red Cross staff and volunteers are taking part in the response. Sixteen specialised transport teams are helping people with limited mobility. The teams meet people, accompany them and transport them to designated temporary accommodation sites. Separate transport is also available for people travelling with their pets.

The Ukrainian Red Cross provides warm clothing for children and adults, as well as blankets and psychological first aid kits. People will receive individual hygiene kits and mobile phones so they can contact their families and loved ones.

In addition, the Ukrainian Red Cross will continue to support people at designated temporary accommodation sites over the coming week, providing assistance tailored to their needs.

The next stage of support will involve one-off cash assistance of UAH 52,375 per household. The funds are primarily intended to cover rental costs for the first three months. Depending on each family’s needs, they may also be used to purchase essential household items, medicines, warm clothing and other necessities.

The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to address the immediate humanitarian needs of people from Oleshky and support them as they settle into their new surroundings.

We are grateful to all our partners across the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the U.S. Department of State, DG ECHO and all our donors for their continued support for our work.
