More than 70 police officers trained in psychological first aid by the Ukrainian Red Cross
Three psychological first aid training sessions for police officers were held in the Kharkiv region with U.S. support.
Police officers are often among the first to arrive at the scenes of shelling and other emergencies, where people may be experiencing intense fear, confusion and stress. In such situations, it is important not only to ensure people’s physical safety but also to provide the psychological support they need.
During the training sessions, participants learned about the key principles of psychological first aid and put them into practice. They learned how to recognise and respond to people’s emotional reactions, listen attentively, communicate calmly and provide clear information to help people navigate difficult situations.
This training helps police officers better prepare to interact with people affected by crises and provide support that takes their needs and circumstances into account.
