Building knowledge about rehabilitation assistive devices among residents of Odesa’s Kyivskyi district
A training session on rehabilitation assistive devices was held for residents of Odesa’s Kyivskyi district. The training was delivered by a trainer from the Physical Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation programme of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Odesa region. The head and volunteers of the Kyivskyi district branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross in Odesa also took part in the session.
During the training, participants:
- learned about the concept of rehabilitation assistive devices;
- became familiar with the main types of assistive devices and their purposes;
- explored, through practical exercises, equipment used to support mobility;
- learned how to assess the safety and comfort of using assistive devices;
- practised identifying correct and incorrect use of assistive devices, including assessing height adjustments, settings and safety indicators;
- received information about opportunities to obtain assistive devices free of charge.
Such training sessions are important for improving the quality of life of people who need rehabilitation or care. They provide practical skills needed for the safe and comfortable use of assistive devices. Trainers from the Physical Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation programme continue to work to ensure that useful knowledge and practical skills are accessible to everyone.
The activities of the Physical Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation programme of the Ukrainian Red Cross in Odesa Region are implemented with the support of the German Red Cross.
