Direct FPV drone strike destroys Ukrainian Red Cross vehicle in Zaporizhzhia region
Today, at around 9:00 a.m., a Ukrainian Red Cross operational vehicle was destroyed in a direct FPV drone strike while responding to the aftermath of a Russian attack in Vilniansk, Zaporizhzhia region.
The Vilniansk unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team arrived at the scene to provide emergency assistance to those affected. After parking their vehicle, the volunteers immediately went to administer first aid to one of the injured. Shortly afterwards, they were alerted to an approaching FPV drone. Moments later, the drone struck the Ukrainian Red Cross vehicle directly, completely destroying it.
Fortunately, no Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers or staff members were injured.
We strongly condemn attacks on civilian infrastructure and on vehicles clearly marked with the Red Cross emblem. Such attacks constitute a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
Despite the constant danger and daily attacks, Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers continue to carry out their humanitarian mission by providing assistance to civilians, saving lives, and supporting people in need.
