Canadian and Czech Red Cross Representatives Visit Poltava Region
A delegation from the Canadian Red Cross and the Czech Red Cross paid a working visit to the Poltava regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross to learn more about the implementation of joint humanitarian projects and the results of many years of cooperation.
During the visit, the partners toured shelters renovated by the Ukrainian Red Cross, which have been made safer for people during air raid alerts. They also visited sites where renovation works are currently underway or planned.
The delegation also learned more about the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response activities. Representatives of the partner National Societies visited locations where the emergency response team had worked following Russian attacks and saw firsthand how volunteers and staff provided first aid and psychological first aid, and distributed emergency shelter repair materials to people whose homes had been damaged.
The guests also observed the Home-Based Care programme in practice, meeting beneficiaries receiving regular support from the Ukrainian Red Cross, as well as the social assistants who provide daily support to the most vulnerable members of the community.
During the visit, representatives of the Czech Red Cross handed over two Ford Custom vehicles to the Ukrainian Red Cross to strengthen its emergency response capacity, along with humanitarian assistance, including 300 trauma first aid kits and equipment for a tracked all-terrain vehicle.
Cooperation with the Canadian Red Cross and the Czech Red Cross remains an important part of the Ukrainian Red Cross’s humanitarian programmes, particularly in the Poltava region. Thanks to the support of its partners, the Ukrainian Red Cross continues to strengthen emergency response, restore essential infrastructure, and provide comprehensive assistance to people who need it most.
