23rd General Assembly of the Ukrainian Red Cross Elects New Leadership and Approves the Organisation’s Strategy

On 9 July, the 23rd General Assembly of the Ukrainian Red Cross took place.

The General Assembly brought together 86 delegates from across Ukraine.

Following the vote, Maksym Dotsenko was elected President of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

The following were elected Vice-Presidents of the Ukrainian Red Cross: Oksana Beketova, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Branch; Iryna Pliusnina, Head of the Poltava Regional Branch; and Andrii Skorokhod, Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Branch.
Illya Kletskovskyy was appointed Director General of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine; Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, who addressed the General Assembly via video message; Volodymyr Demchuk, Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine; Matthias Schmale, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine; Maria Alcazar Castilla, Deputy Regional Director for Europe at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies; Juan Pedro Schaerer, Head of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine; as well as leaders and representatives of the Red Cross National Societies of Denmark, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Spain and other countries.

One of the key highlights of the General Assembly was the presentation of the Ukrainian Red Cross Strategy 2026–2030, which sets out the organisation’s strategic priorities for the next five years.

The 23rd General Assembly marked an important milestone for the Ukrainian Red Cross, establishing the organisation’s leadership for the coming term and reaffirming its commitment to further developing its humanitarian work, supporting people in need, and strengthening the resilience of communities across Ukraine.
