Making rehabilitation services more accessible across Dnipro region: Ukrainian Red Cross expands cooperation with local communities

The Dnipro regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Solone Settlement Community.

The memorandum officially launches the Physical Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation programme at the community level.

Our shared goal is to help people affected by the war, including those recovering from injuries, trauma or serious illness, regain their independence and return to active daily life. Particular attention will be given to remote communities, where residents often have limited access to specialised rehabilitation services.

As part of this partnership, we will:

  • provide individual physical rehabilitation sessions delivered by qualified specialists;
  • supply assistive devices for rehabilitation, free of charge, including wheelchairs, crutches, walking frames and other mobility aids;
  • assess patients’ home environments and recommend adaptations to help create safe, accessible and barrier-free living spaces;
  • deliver training for family members and caregivers on providing appropriate care and support to relatives with disabilities.

Building a barrier-free and inclusive society is a gradual process that begins in every community.

We thank the Head of the Solone Settlement Community, Mykhailo Kopeiko, and the entire community team for their openness and commitment to joining efforts in support of those who need it most.
