The Ukrainian Red Cross is implementing the Book About Me programme, designed to support the development of emotional literacy, self-awareness, self-regulation, and social skills among children

The programme is intended for children aged 6–10 and uses creative, play-based, and reflective activities to help them recognise and express emotions, better understand themselves, and build positive relationships with others. It is currently being implemented in 17 regions of Ukraine and the city of Kyiv. Since the beginning of the year, more than 520 sessions have been conducted, reaching over 6,300 children.

In May, specialists from the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support programme of the Vinnytsia regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross held sessions for students at Vinnytsia Lyceum No. 4. Through creative activities and personal storytelling, children learned to talk about their feelings, better understand themselves, and identify their inner strengths and sources of resilience.

Supporting children’s mental health is an important part of the Ukrainian Red Cross’s work, especially in times of war. Programmes like this create safe spaces where children can feel heard, understood, and supported.
