23 April — All-Ukrainian Psychologist Day

At a time when the country faces daily challenges, the role of those who help people maintain psychological resilience is especially vital. Psychologists of the Ukrainian Red Cross support people through moments of anxiety, loss, and exhaustion, as well as when they are seeking stability and inner strength.

Psychology is a profession in which the primary tool is the practitioner themselves. It brings together professional knowledge, experience, and continuous self-reflection: the ability to listen, to hold emotionally complex experiences, and to remain both professional and fully present. Often, it is this presence and support that enables people to find the strength to move forward.

Today, the Ukrainian Red Cross employs 81 psychologists across a range of programmes and projects. In 2025 alone, they conducted 15,653 individual consultations and provided psychological support to more than 1,600 people.

People most often seek support for low mood and depressive symptoms, sleep disturbances and anxiety, relationship difficulties and family conflict, adjustment to new life circumstances, as well as challenges affecting children and adolescents.

In 2025, the field of mental health and psychosocial support in Ukraine has increasingly focused on strengthening resilience.

Today, it is important not only to respond to crises, but also to help people restore their internal resources and return to everyday life, even in the context of prolonged war.

The Ukrainian Red Cross will continue to strengthen its psychological support services to ensure that assistance is accessible to everyone who needs it
