The Ukrainian Red Cross has signed an agreement with the Finnish Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross to support people with disabilities affected by the war in Ukraine
This partnership aims to ensure that people injured by the war, veterans, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups have equal access to services, opportunities for self-realisation, and full participation in community life.
The Kharkiv region has been selected as the pilot region, as one of the areas most severely affected by the war, where inclusion remains a particularly pressing priority.
The initiative includes:
- improving access to inclusive services and barrier-free infrastructure;
- developing programmes to strengthen economic resilience and livelihoods;
- providing support to veterans and people injured as a result of the war;
- fostering mutual support networks and strengthening the role of communities;
- building the capacity of specialists and promoting inclusive approaches at the local level.
The project also includes collecting and analysing data to inform evidence-based solutions and advocate for change at both local and national levels.
By combining experience, resources, and expertise, the Ukrainian Red Cross, together with its partners, is working to ensure that Ukraine’s recovery is inclusive and that every person has the opportunity to live with dignity and independence.
