The Ukrainian Red Cross engages veterans in developing the volunteer fire service in the Khmelnytskyi region

With the support of the Ukrainian Red Cross, an initiative to develop and strengthen the volunteer fire service is being implemented in the Khmelnytskyi region. As part of the initiative, meetings and training sessions were organised for veterans to support their adaptation to civilian life and help identify opportunities for engagement within their communities.

During the events, participants explored topics such as motivation, identifying personal resources, community engagement, and opportunities for professional development.

Veterans were also introduced to opportunities to join volunteer fire brigades, where they can put their experience, discipline and leadership skills to use. As valued members of their communities, veterans can play a key role in further strengthening the volunteer fire service.

A total of 217 veterans participated in the activities between October and March.
The initiative was implemented with the support of the British Red Cross, and plans are underway to expand it to other regions of Ukraine.
