“It is very difficult for us”: The Story of Ivanna from Kharkiv Region and the Support She Received

Ivanna lives in the Kharkiv region, in the village of Eskhar, together with her daughter, who has special educational needs. Her husband died from COVID-19 before the start of the full-scale invasion. Prolonged power outages and severe frosts pose a serious challenge for the family.

“It is very difficult for us — emotionally, financially and physically,” Ivanna says.

This year, the family became beneficiaries of a programme through which vulnerable households receive winter cash assistance to purchase solid fuel. The programme is implemented by the Ukrainian Red Cross with the support of the British Red Cross.
