The ability to provide psychological first aid is becoming as essential a skill as stopping bleeding. In this session, we will explore the mechanics of stress: what happens to our brain and body in critical moments, and why simple words of reassurance sometimes do not work.
Topics include:
- Understanding what psychological first aid (PFA) is and recognising the limits of a non-specialist’s competence.
- Learning to identify signs that someone requires urgent support and distinguishing between different stages of stress responses.
- Mastering a step-by-step approach to providing support confidently.
- Practical self-help tools to maintain your own well-being.
Speaker: Kateryna Krylenko, crisis psychologist. A specialist in acute stress management, she knows how to stabilise mental health in uncertain situations and will teach you how to be a reliable support for yourself and those around you.
