The Ukrainian Red Cross expands rehabilitation programmes and supports veterans on their path to recovery

The Physical and Mental Rehabilitation team of the Volyn regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross spent two weeks working at the Western Rehabilitation and Sports Centre of the National Sports Committee of Ukraine for Persons with Disabilities, together with a group of 12 veterans.

Before the programme began, specialists conducted an initial assessment of each participant and developed individual rehabilitation plans tailored to the veterans’ needs and functional abilities.

During the two-week programme, participants took part in daily activities, including:

  • sessions in the multipurpose hall, gym, and rehabilitation area;
  • visits to the rehabilitation and sports pools;
  • morning walks aimed at improving endurance and overall well-being;
  • therapeutic and physical exercises designed to ensure a structured and sustainable rehabilitation process.

The team was able to provide professional guidance while also creating a supportive, comfortable, and motivating environment — an essential element for successful recovery.

The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to collaborate with relevant state institutions and partners to expand rehabilitation programmes and support veterans on their path to recovery.
