Ukrainian Red Cross and Humane World for Animals support animals from frontline regions

The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to assist families with pets who have been forced to leave their homes as a result of the war. Through our partnership with Humane World for Animals, we also provide support to animal shelters that care for pets left without owners — particularly in frontline areas.

In the Sumy region, assistance has already been delivered for the second time to animals under the care of a local shelter. This support helps ensure food and care for hundreds of animals, many of which were abandoned by their owners or evacuated by volunteers from border villages affected by shelling. At present, evacuated animals account for around 40% of all those in the shelter — more than 200 animals of different ages.
