The Ukrainian Red Cross has trained 387,000 people in first aid across Ukraine
You never know when you might be next to someone whose life depends on swift and correct action. First aid is not just a skill — it is everyone’s responsibility. Every minute counts: performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, stopping bleeding, or placing a casualty in the recovery position can mean the difference between life and death before medical help arrives.
The Ukrainian Red Cross has already trained over 387,000 people in first aid. The courses combine theory and practice, preparing participants to respond effectively to all kinds of emergencies — from everyday injuries and urgent medical conditions to the consequences of war, including managing severe bleeding, respiratory arrest, blast injuries, and crush syndrome.
“We cannot prevent all emergencies, but we can do everything to ensure people know how to act correctly in those crucial first minutes. That is what saves lives,” emphasises Nadiia Yamnenko, master trainer and Head of the First Aid Department at the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Learning to provide first aid enhances preparedness for crisis situations and helps develop self-control, confidence, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. It is not just knowledge — it is a contribution to the safety of your community and those around you.
