Working Visit of the Ukrainian Red Cross to Spain

The Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross, Maksym Dotsenko, is currently on a working visit to Spain.

Recently, he spoke at an event hosted at the headquarters of the Spanish Red Cross in Madrid. The event focused on sharing experiences and discussing the humanitarian situation in Ukraine. In his address, the Director General shared the Ukrainian Red Cross’s experience in responding to the full-scale war in Ukraine, highlighting its collaboration with national authorities and government institutions.

Particular attention was given to the importance of a people-centred approach, integrating emergency response with the development of local capacities, the effectiveness of international support for Ukraine in the coming years, and pathways for long-term recovery and community resilience.

The cooperation between the Ukrainian Red Cross and the Spanish Red Cross has been ongoing since the early months of the full-scale war. This partnership has enabled the implementation of support programmes for people affected by the war — both within Ukraine and beyond its borders.

Together, we continue working to ensure that assistance is timely, sustainable, and needs-driven.
