The Ukrainian Red Cross and Yaroslav Mudryi National Library of Ukraine Sign Memorandum of Cooperation
The signing of this memorandum formalises the partnership between the organisations in the fields of humanitarian work, science, and education in Ukraine. Priority areas of cooperation include the dissemination of knowledge about international humanitarian law (IHL) and raising public awareness of the Ukrainian Red Cross and components of the Red Cross movement.
The Yaroslav Mudryi National Library of Ukraine (formerly the National Parliamentary Library of Ukraine) is a leading state cultural, educational, and scientific information institution, founded in 1866. As of 2022, the library’s collection numbered nearly 5 million items.
In May 2025, at the initiative of the Ukrainian Red Cross and with the support of the Yaroslav Mudryi National Library, a national public campaign titled “Books on International Humanitarian Law – to Libraries in Ukraine” was carried out. During a ceremonial event, collections of books and supplementary materials on IHL were distributed to over 150 libraries throughout Ukraine. As part of the cooperation, the library’s exchange and reserve fund will receive an additional batch of IHL literature from the Ukrainian Red Cross.
